The Great Parmensee between the Feldberger Lakes (middle of the map) and the Fürstenwerder Lakes (top right) |
The Großer Parmensee (sometimes just Parmensee without adjective) is located in the upper reaches of the Quillow , it is the fifth and largest after the Bucheisensee (spring lake), the Roßbauersee, the Wrechener See [vreçənɐ] and the Kleiner Parmensee. Located in the Uckermark district of Brandenburg , it is one of the Uckermark Lakes . It is located south of Fürstenwerder and is named after the village of Parmen on its south bank.
It has a maximum length of around three kilometers and a maximum width of around 670 meters. The lime-rich unstratified lake has two distinct bays on the east bank. There are two smaller islands in the lake. The area around the lake is quite hilly and used for agriculture. The catchment area of the lake is around 3,200 hectares.
The lake used to belong to the Parmen district and later to the Fürstenwerder district, which is now part of the municipality of Nordwestuckermark . The lake is home to fish species such as pike, perch, pikeperch, eel, burbot, carp and tench.
