Great stone graves at Treuen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The megalithic graves near Treuen were two megalithic tombs of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Treuen , a district of Sassen-Trantow in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). They were probably destroyed in the 19th century. The existence of the graves was recorded by hand in the 1820s by Friedrich von Hagenow . His notes, which were intended to record the entire inventory of the megalithic graves on Rügen and in New Western Pomerania , were published by Rudolf Baier in 1904 . The investments at Treuen were only included in a list. Their exact location, dimensions and orientation are unknown. It is only noted that both graves were large dolmen , one of which had a rectangular or trapezoidal barn bed with a stone surround.

The Treuen grounds were part of a larger group of megalithic tombs that stretched southwest of Greifswald between Dargelin in the east and Düvier in the west. The closest preserved structures are the megalithic stone graves to the north and east in the Poggendorf forest .
