Geography and traffic

Düvier is located about ten kilometers northwest of Loitz and 12.5 kilometers south of Grimmen . The federal road 194 runs east of the village. The place can also be reached from the federal highway 20 via the Dersekow or Grimmen-Ost connections . The Stralsund – Neustrelitz railway runs through the local area , where Düvier once had a train station. The next rail connections are in Rakow and Demmin . The Ibitzgraben and Ibitzbach flow near the village, with the relatively small trench having two different directions of flow.

history

The Düvier and the former districts of Nielitz and Zarnekla were first mentioned in a document in 1242. The place was a farming village until the Thirty Years War and belonged to the property of the Turow moated castle, a few kilometers further northwest in the Ibitztal. Later, an estate was set up on the deserted arable land.

The current spelling of the place name in the slight variation "Düwier" appears for the first time on the map of the Swedish land survey from 1697, but it was not until the 19th century that it became established.

In 1925, the community of Düvier had a resident population of 795.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Zarnekla was incorporated. On July 1, 2012, the community was incorporated into the city of Loitz.
