The large stone grave Belau is a megalithic grave complex of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Belau in the Plön district in Schleswig-Holstein . The grave bears the Sprockhoff number 228. It was archaeologically examined by Friedrich Knorr at the beginning of the 20th century .
location
Ernst Sprockhoff did not specify the location of the grave in more detail. It is probably identical to a round hill east of Belau. The destroyed stone grave of Schmalensee was located 2.6 km south-southeast .
description
The complex has a north-west-south-east oriented burial chamber . It is a large dolmen with a length of 2.3 m and a width of 0.95 m. There are three pairs of wall stones on the long sides, two end stones on the northwestern side and a threshold stone and a locking plate on the southeastern narrow side. All three cap stones are still on the wall stones. In front of the southeast side there is a short corridor made of a pair of wall stones. If the equation with the round mound is correct, the chamber is completely hidden in the mound.
