And is a megalithic system of the funnel beaker culture (TBK). Neolithic monuments are an expression of the culture and ideology of Neolithic societies. Their origin and function are considered to be the hallmarks of social development. The passage grave is a form of Neolithic megalithic systems , which consists of a chamber and a structurally separated, lateral passage. This form is primarily found in Denmark, Germany and Scandinavia, as well as occasionally in France and the Netherlands.

location

The large stone grave is located three kilometers northeast of Groß-Stavern , about one kilometer east of the Sprakel settlement, in the Emsland district in Lower Saxony .

description

The trapezoidal east-west oriented chamber measures approximately 7.0 × 2.2 meters and tapers to 1.5 meters in the east. Most of it is in a recently built rampart. 13 of the possibly 14 supporting stones and four cap stones have been preserved in situ . From the corridor, in the middle of the south side, there are three (of probably four) support stones and one of two cap stones. The second capstone is nearby. It is not possible to prove whether the complex was overgrown and provided with edging stones. It is easy to see that all capstones are in three-point contact.

Immediately to the west of the passage grave lies a heather area with a burial mound from the Bronze Age , of which 15 mounds are still present.
