The megalithic grave Wees was a Neolithic grave plant on the present territory of the district Wees Station of the municipality Wees in Schleswig-Flensburg .

description

The grave was originally located southeast of Himmershoi and was disrupted as early as 1889. Before the complete destruction, however, an excavation could still be carried out. Today the former location of the grave is completely overbuilt by a housing estate.

Ernst Sprockhoff lists the grave under number 16 in his Atlas of Germany's Megalithic Tombs . The grave belonged to the large dolmen type and was oriented northeast-southwest. A burial mound could still be made out during the excavations, but no details are available about it. Possibly existing enclosing stones were not found. The burial chamber consisted of eight wall stones and one of originally three cap stones. The capstone found had fallen into the chamber. The wall stones are divided into a narrow entrance stone in the southwest and a wide end stone in the northeast and three pairs of lateral support stones. The two southwestern girder stones were drawn in towards the entrance stone. The chamber had a length of 4.00 m, a width of 1.40 m and a height between 0.80 and 0.90 m.

In addition to the examined grave, Röschmann mentions a number of other stone graves and burial mounds in Wees, which have probably been destroyed by now. The exact location of these graves is now unlikely to be ascertainable.
