Zetelvitz large stone grave

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The large stone grave Zetelvitz was a megalithic grave complex of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Groß Zetelvitz or Klein Zetelvitz , districts of Sassen-Trantow in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). It was probably destroyed in the 19th century. The existence of the grave was recorded by hand in the 1820s by Friedrich von Hagenow . His notes, which were intended to record the entire inventory of the megalithic graves on Rügen and in New Western Pomerania , were published by Rudolf Baier in 1904 . The system at Zetelvitz was only included in a list. Their exact location, dimensions and orientation are unknown. It is only noted that it was a large dolmen .

The Zetelvitz complex was part of a larger group of megalithic tombs that stretched southwest of Greifswald between Dargelin in the east and Düvier in the west. The next preserved structures are the large stone graves of Pustow to the south and the large dolmen of Sassen .
