Large stone grave of Kritzow with guard stone

The large stone grave of Kritzow near Kritzow , a district of Langen Brütz in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district near Schwerin in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is sometimes referred to as a giant bed without a chamber , as there is no evidence of a chamber today. During investigations in 1904, however, remains of a chamber are said to have been discovered on the eastern side. The eastern part is badly preserved.

The large stone grave of the funnel beaker culture (TBK) was created between 3500 and 2800 BC. Chr. It bears the Sprockhoff no. 402. Ewald Schuldt (1914–1987) and Hans-Jürgen Beier erroneously use Sprockhoff no. 381 provided. The roughly east-west oriented megalithic bed of 22.5 × 6.5 m tapers only slightly towards the east. The largest stones are at the western end. The 2.5 m high northwest corner stone (the other one is missing), a guard stone weighing around 10 tons, is striking .

There used to be numerous large stone graves in the vicinity of Kritzow, but they have been destroyed. The stones were used in particular for the construction of the Paulsdamm in 1840/41 in Lake Schwerin and for road construction.
