The large stone grave of Rethen was discovered in 1995 while deep plowing. It is located in Rethen, Lower Saxony ( Vordorf municipality ) in the Gifhorn district , north of Braunschweig . During the uncovering it turned out that the three plowed boulders are the remains of a large stone grave . This is the first large stone grave to be discovered in the Gifhorn district, although several have been handed down in writing.

The result of two excavations is an almost east-west oriented, old, disturbed megalithic complex of the funnel cup culture (TBK), or the Bernburg culture , which existed between 3500 and 2800 BC. Was created. The complex of an unknown type consists of six 50–60 cm thick supporting stones that are 70 to 90 cm high; the ceiling construction was not found. The internal dimensions of the chamber are 2.4 × 3.6 m. Few flint artifacts could be recovered.
