The Grootes Peak is a 2635 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises on the southern foothills of the Colwell massif .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1994 after Pieter Meiert Grootes, from 1977 to 1994 he was involved in investigations of ice cores, especially from the Taylor Dome , and subsequently head of the radioisotope laboratory at Christian Albrechts University in Kiel .
