The Grotto Glacier is a 40-km long and up to 11 km wide at the mouth of the glacier on the east coast of Alexander Island west of the Antarctic Peninsula . It flows east to George VI Sound , which it reaches between Belemnite Point and Ablation Point .
Participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934–1937) carried out a first survey in 1936, which the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) repeated in 1949. The FIDS named it after an in glaciers and a cave (English grotto ) reminiscent crevasse from which a Husky was saved.
