history

It is not known that the brown coal was mined. By letter of 12 November 1920, the heirs of Theodor Zimmermann in reported Oberbergamt Bonn and asked for delivery of all documents relating to the "Sites and drill holes" of mine fields Kate, Antonia and Neeb . It is possible that during this economically difficult time - similar to the Saaler Mühle in the Consolidation Alfred mine - brown coal was extracted at one point or another for the operation of furnaces. Location and relics
The point of discovery was around the confluence of the Marienhöhe street into Reuterstraße in the area of a clay pit operated there, which stretched eight to ten meters deep over an area of about 600 m². In the northern part of this pit, a two meter thick brown coal deposit was found, which was covered with 1.8 m of refractory clay. The Käthchen mine stretched from here to the flora and bordered on the Antonia brown coal mine to the south.
