The Gruebenhütte is a mountain hut belonging to the Academic Alpine Club Basel in the Swiss canton of Bern . The alpine self-catering hut is located at 2512 m above sea level. M. in the community of Guttannen on a rock spur 200 meters above the Grueben glacier and Gruebensee .
The hut has 16 beds, divided into a 6-person bedroom and a 10-person bedroom. If necessary, 3 to 4 people can stay overnight in the neighboring bouldering bivouac.
The boarding takes 3 to 4 hours from the Hotel Handegg on the Grimselpassstrasse .
The most important tour options in the vicinity of the hut are climbing tours on the Grosse Diamentstock via the normal route over the Undri Bächli-Licken (German: lower Bächlilücke) or via the east and north ridge and on the Hiendertelltihorn (via the south and east ridge).
Small glacier treks to the neighboring huts Bächlitalhütte and Lauteraarhütte require tour experience. The transition over the Undri Bächlilicken 2764 m is only for experienced alpinists, as it can change due to thawing permafrost .
