Grundschöttel is a district and a district of the city of Wetter (Ruhr) in the Ennepe-Ruhr district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Grundschöttel was an independent municipality until 1939 .

The Grundschöttel district lies south of the Ruhr and belongs to the Volmarstein district of the city of Wetter (Ruhr).

history

Grundschöttel was an old Westphalian peasantry and formed a rural community in the office of Volmarstein in the district of Hagen in the Westphalian administrative district of Arnsberg since the 19th century . Coal mining was carried out in Grundschöttel until the 19th century , most recently in the United Wülfingsburg colliery . From 1929 Grundschöttel belonged to the Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis . In 1939 Grundschöttel was incorporated into Volmarstein and on January 1, 1970, Grundschöttel and Volmarstein came to the town of Wetter.

The half-timbered houses Am Hasenkamp 1, Hover Weg 20 and Schlebuscher Straße 165 (destroyed by fire on January 1, 2018), the dining house in Grundschötteler Straße 21, the Baptist chapel in Grundschötteler Straße 48 and an old section of the route are listed as historical monuments in Grundschöttel former Schlebusch-Harkorter coal railway .
