The school then and now

In 1890, the Altkloster elementary school was founded as an elementary school in the formerly independent Altkloster district of the city of Buxtehude, which is also the namesake. In the early 1970s the school was converted to a primary school. The primary school is the only one in the Altkloster district, and the catchment area also includes the surrounding villages ( Immenbeck , Ovelgönne , Ketzendorf , Eilendorf , Pippensen and Daensen ), whose students are transported by the municipal bus service of the KVG Stade . At the end of the 90s, building areas were built in Buxtehude as well as in the surrounding towns, which resulted in high student numbers for the school.

Integration as an educational concept

As early as 1985, schooling for disabled and non-disabled children began at the Altkloster primary school , initially with the academic support of the University of Lüneburg . School club

The school association of the Altkloster primary school was founded on February 11, 1975. The task of the school association is to raise funds for the purchase of teaching and learning materials as well as other school supplies, as well as to contribute to the cooperation between teachers, parents and students in and outside of school. This also includes the organization of the afternoon menu and lunch . The afternoon offer in this form is unique in Lower Saxony, unlike at other schools, the supervisors are not hired by the school authorities or other government agencies, but by the school association.
