Immenbeck ( Low German Imbeek ) is a district of Buxtehude in Lower Saxony in the southeast . Until 1972 the place was an independent municipality.

etymology

When it was first mentioned in 1196, the place was called Ennenbike , named after the stream flowing through the village. In turkeys bike is an old European flow name, which is about 1000 to 500 v. Was coined. Bike means Bach and Ennen the movement of flowing water.

The place is mentioned for the first time in the founding deed of 1196 of the Buxtehude monastery. According to the monastery, there were eleven farms at the time. Four of the courtyards belong to a main courtyard, which is surrounded by a wall and thus could have been an old aristocratic residence. During the development of a new building area in 2000, the Saxon burial ground near Immenbeck was discovered. The excavation ended in 2004.

In 1664 there were three Vollhöfner, three Großkötner and four Kleinkötner in Immenbeck. For the first time a school was mentioned. It was used by the children from Immenbeck, Ketzendorf and Ovelgönne.

Immenbeck was incorporated into the city of Buxtehude on July 1, 1972 with the territorial change agreement concluded between the city of Buxtehude and the municipality of Immenbeck on June 14, 1972 and approved by the district president in Stade on June 20, 1972 . Immenbeck previously belonged to the Harburg district .

Immenbeck has its own soccer field, golf and tennis facilities.
