Georg Wilhelm Zapf
Georg Wilhelm Zapf (born March 28, 1747 in Nördlingen , † December 29, 1810 in Biburg near Diedorf ) was a German historian and bibliographer .
The craftsman's son was a clerk in Aalen from 1765 to 1770 and a notary in Augsburg from 1773 to 1786 . In 1784 he became Hohenlohe Privy Councilor, 1786 Electoral Mainz Privy Councilor and Imperial Court Palatinate Count . From 1786 he lived as a private scholar on his estate in Biburg. In 1808 he was accepted as a foreign member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences .
As a bibliographer he researched the history of printing in the 15th and 16th centuries on several trips and owned a large private library himself . Over 4,000 letters have survived from his learned correspondence.
Zapf published numerous writings mainly on historical topics.
