The primary school on Uhlandstrasse is a two-class primary school in the northern part of Hanover . The building is located near the center of the Lower Saxony state capital, just a few minutes' walk from the Christ Church , on the quiet side street Uhlandstraße at the address An der Flage 2 . The building also serves as a branch of the Lutherschule grammar school, which is also located in the north of the city .

history

During the time of the German Empire , the pupils of what was then Boys' Middle School II in Hanover moved in 1912 from the Bürgererschule Halthoffstrasse to the school building on Uhlandstrasse.

At the time of National Socialism , the U-shaped building complex, now called Middle School II , was located at the then address Uhlandstrasse 1 , with one long side on Uhlandstrasse, while the other building wings of houses built close to one another were in what was then the pentagon of Uhlandstrasse, Gustav-Adolf- Straße, Hainhölzer Straße, Scheffelstraße and In der Flage were framed. During the Second World War , from February 15, 1944 at the latest, more than 60 pupils born in 1926 and 1927 from the 5th and 6th grade were deployed as air force helpers. In 1945, the school on Uhlandstrasse was completely destroyed by aerial bombs . The last remaining students were then distributed to boys' secondary schools 1 and 3 .

It was only more than a decade after the end of the war that the architect Ernst Adolf Zinsser built the school building at that time by 1958, which originally served the “ Volksschule An der Uhlandstrasse”. The school building was the photo motif for an exhibition on Zinsser's work that opened on June 20, 2016 in the rooms of k + a architects as part of the 2016 Architecture Period organized by the Lower Saxony Chamber of Architects . The introduction to the photo exhibition with seven objects by Zinsser, who " decisively shaped the cityscape of Hanover in the 1950s and thus deserves appropriate appreciation today," was given by Sid Auffarth in the run-up to Architecture Day 2016.
