Sid Auffarth (* 1938 ) is a German architect , urban planning historian and author, in particular on the history of Hanover's urban planning.

Life

After training as a bricklayer, Auffarth studied civil engineering and architecture at the Technical University of Hanover and at the ETH Zurich . He taught and researched for more than three decades at the University of Hanover in the subject of urban history and headed the research project “Rudolf Hillebrecht and Hanover. Concepts and planning after the Second World War ”.

Auffarth is known as a “connoisseur of Hanover” and is active as a public advocate in the urban development office . He is a board member of the Building Heritage Foundation in the Hanover area , a local board of trustees of the German Monument Protection Foundation , and a member of the Lower Saxony Building Culture Network . Auffarth is honorary chairman of several clubs.

Since 1994 Auffarth has been organizing StadtRadTours through Hanover in cooperation with the Citizens' Office for Urban Development. The 2014 bike tour is z. B. “Shopping in Hanover's north” is popular - from the Nebgen shop to the mall.
