Grup Vitamin is a former Turkish band and was successful with their humorous lyrics and melodies in the 1990s.

history

Grup Vitamin was founded in 1990 by Gökhan Semiz and his friends from the Conservatory in İstanbul founded. Just for fun, the group added the melodies of the latest world hits to Gökhan's lyrics and recorded them. The parodies Bol Vitamin and Dokundur emerged from the songs No Coke and I Can't Touch This .

What was planned as a pure fun project caught the attention of İlhan Tek . He decided to produce an album with the band. In 1990 the label Carneval Plak & Kaset released the first album Bol Vitamin. İzel is also featured on some of the songs on the album . Producer İlhan Tek confirmed that 495,000 MCs were sold from the album. Including black copies and copies sold abroad, especially in Germany , it can be assumed that over 3 million units have been sold.

At the beginning of 1991, Bol Vitamin was named the best-selling album of the year by MÜ-YAP . In the same year the second album Grup Vitamin was released under Uras Müzik. After this album Ercan Saatçi and Ufuk Yıldırım left the band and continued as a duo under the name "Uf-Er". Even Murat Uzunal , decided to leave the group.

So Gökhan Semiz, Selçuk Aksoy, Emrah Anul and Sertaç Demirtaş decided to continue their careers as a quartet. The band stayed true to their concept by not only parodying national and international hits, but also reenacting the artists' music videos . After the albums Yandık Desene and Üşüttük , Sertaç Demirtaş also left the group. The band, now consisting of only three members, continued its career successfully. In 1994 the album Aşkın Gözyaşları was released, which was composed of the songs Turkish Cowboylar and Ellere Var Da Bize Yoh Mi? Contains two of the group's best-known titles.

In 1996, the music video for Takmayacaksın was used as a commercial for the beverage brand Yedigün and won the award for the best commercial of the year. In the same year, the band released a best-of album entitled Deli Dolu. In addition to the 10 biggest hits, the album also contains two new songs.

Gökhan Semiz died on October 18, 1998 at the age of 29 in a traffic accident. The bandleader who wrote most of the group's songs was busy working on the group's new album. His bandmates Emrah and Selçuk recorded his last songs and released the band's last album, “Iyi Günler Türkiye”, on the “Prestij Müzik” label. After this album, Grup Vitamin broke up for good in 1999.
