Grypocoris stysi is a species of bug from the family of soft bugs (Miridae).
features
The bugs are 6 to 8 millimeters long. They are patterned light yellowish-white and black and have a striking orange-yellow colored cuneus of the Hemielytren . This makes them unmistakable, but Stenotus binotatus has certain similarities.
Occurrence and habitat
The species is distributed in Western Europe from the British Isles to Spain. She inhabits forests.
Way of life
The bugs mainly suckle on nettles ( Urtica ), more rarely they are also found on umbellifers (Apiaceae) and common bryony ( Bryonia alba ). Both the nymphs and the adults suckle on the flowers as well as predatory on small invertebrates such as aphids . The nymphs hatch in May and finish developing in June and July. Later than August you can hardly find surviving adults.
