Location of Gsenget in Bavaria

Gsenget is a district of the municipality of Neureichenau in the Lower Bavarian district of Freyung-Grafenau . Until 1971 it formed an independent municipality .

location

Gsenget is located in the Bavarian Forest about three kilometers south of Neureichenau on the state road St2130.

history

The place is mentioned as Gsengert 1648 in the church book of the parish of Waldkirchen and until its dissolution in 1803 belonged to the Hochstift Passau . After brief membership in the Electorate of Salzburg, he came to the Wegscheid Regional Court, established in 1806, and thus to Bavaria. In 1809 it consisted of 23 properties. With the formation of the municipalities in 1818 due to the second Bavarian municipality edict of 17 May 1818, the municipality Gsenget was formed. It included the places Gsenget, Kernberg, Kleingsenget, Meisterinwaid (only from 1818 to 1839) and Meisteröden. With the separation of justice and administration in 1862, the community came to the Wolfstein district office and to the Waldkirchen district court, which was established in the same year . On January 1, 1971, the community gave up its independence and decided to integrate into the community of Neureichenau.
