Habitat and way of life

The Guahiba slim-pouch rat occurs in a small area of the Brazilian pampas , in the restinga , a coastal forest biotope and in riverbank forests with sandy soils. Since most of the specimens that have been caught so far fell into traps that stood on the ground, it is assumed that the species mainly lives terrestrially. However, some individuals have also been caught in traps placed in the vegetation at heights of 0.5 to 1.5 m. So far nothing is known about the nutrition of the animals and their reproductive behavior.

The IUCN can not provide any information about the population and the degree of endangerment of the Chaco slim-pouch rat . So far only a few specimens have been caught and the limits of the distribution area are so far unclear.
