Gucheng (Lijiang)
The Gucheng District ( Chinese古城 區 / 古城 区Pinyin Gǔchéng Qū, "Old Town District") is a district and seat of government in the prefecture-level city of Lijiang in the northwest of the Chinese province of Yunnan . It borders Dêqên in the north and Dali in the south . It has an area of 1,127 km² and at the end of 2012 had 150,000 inhabitants.
Gucheng is located on the upper reaches of the Jinsha Jiang River , where the relief merges from the Hengduan Shan Mountains into the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau . The district has a southern plateau climate with an average annual temperature of 12.6 ° C and an annual rainfall of 938.5 mm.
The Gucheng District is filled with buildings from the Tang , Song , Yuan , Ming and Qing Dynasties , the Yulong Xueshan Massif , the Tiger Leaping Gorge , the first bend of the Yangtze River , the Yufeng Temple , the Puji Temple and the culture of the Naxi minority a magnet for tourists from home and abroad.
