Gudrun Berend
Gudrun Berend , Wakan married from 1978 (born April 27, 1955 in Lutherstadt Eisleben ; † August 22, 2011 there ), was a German athlete who - starting for the GDR - was successful in the 100-meter hurdles in the 1970s . Her greatest success was the bronze medal at the European Championships in 1978 (12.73 s).
At the European Championships in 1974 she was fifth (13.14 s), at the Olympic Games in 1976 she was fourth (12.82 s).
Gudrun Berend started for the SC Chemie Halle . During her competition time she was 1.68 m tall and 60 kg. Her daughter Katja Wakan is also a well-known athlete.
