Gudrun Hentges

Gudrun Hentges (* 1964 in Wittlich ) is a German political scientist . She has been Professor of Political Science at the University of Cologne since 2016 . In the summer semester of 2018 she researched and taught at the University of Vienna, where she was Sir Peter Ustinov visiting professor of the City of Vienna.

Life

Gudrun Hentges studied political science , sociology, philosophy and French at the Philipps University of Marburg from 1983 to 1990 and at the Université Paris VIII in 1985/86 . In 1991 she graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Philosophy at Marburg University. From 1991 to 1996 she was a research assistant at the Marburg Institute for Political Science and then at the German Bundestag . She was born in 1998 with Reinhard Kühnl at the Philosophical Faculty with her dissertation, the dark sides of the Enlightenment. The representation of Jews and "savages" in philosophical writings of the 18th and 19th centuries on Dr. phil. PhD .

From 1998 to 2004 she was a research assistant at the educational science faculty of the University of Cologne . There she worked with Christoph Butterwegge in the political science department . She was a member of the board of the Research Center for Intercultural Studies and was active in the EU project Socio-economic Change, Individual Reactions, and the Appeal of the Extreme Right . In 2002 she was a fellow at the German Historical Institute in Washington . From 2004 to 2017 she was Professor of Political Science at the University of Fulda . Since October 1, 2016, she has been teaching and researching at the University of Cologne, where she heads the teaching and research department “Political Science, Educational Policy and Political Education” at the Faculty of Human Sciences (North Campus).

Since 2004 she has been a member of the scientific advisory board of the Research Center for Intercultural Studies at the University of Cologne. Together with Wolf-Dietrich Bukow, Christoph Butterwegge, Julia Reuter, Hans-Joachim Roth and Erol Yildiz, she publishes the book series of the Research Center for Intercultural Studies , which appears under the title Intercultural Studies.

Together with Volker Hinnenkamp, ​​Hans-Wolfgang Platzer and Anne Honer (1951–2012) she has been co-editor of the interdisciplinary series of the “Center for Intercultural and European Studies” since 2007.

Since 2011 she has been a member of the advisory board of the network for occupational integration and integration for persons entitled to stay and refugees . The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the European Social Fund .

In 2013 she qualified as a professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences at the University of Cologne with a thesis on State and Political Education. From the “Central Office for Homeland Service” to the “ Federal Center for Political Education . This was accompanied by Christoph Butterwegge.

Since April 2016 she has been a member of the scientific advisory board of the Austro-Hungarian research project “Solidarity in times of crisis - Socio-economic change and political orientations in Austria and Hungary” (2016–2019). This project - funded by the Austrian " Fund for the Promotion of Scientific Research " - is carried out by the University of Vienna (Jörg Flecker) and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (István Grajczjar).

Since December 2019 she has acted - together with Oliver Decker (University of Leipzig and Competence Center for Right-Wing Extremism and Democracy Research) - as the spokesperson for the graduate school “Right-wing Populism. Authoritarian developments, extreme right-wing discourses and democratic resonances ”at the University of Cologne and Leipzig University.
