Gerd Wiegel

Gerd Wiegel (* 1966 in Bielefeld ) is a German political scientist , journalist and author . He works as a consultant for right-wing extremism and anti-fascism for the Left Party in the German Bundestag .

Wiegel studied at the Philipps University of Marburg and did his doctorate under Reinhard Kühnl on the subject of the future of the past. Conservative history discourse and cultural hegemony - From the historians' dispute to the Walser-Bubis debate . From 1997 to 2003 he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Political Science there.

As editor of the magazine Z. Zeitschrift Marxistische Erneuerung he published numerous articles on the political right in Germany and Europe. He also worked for MOBIT (“Mobile Advice Against Right-Wing Extremism in Thuringia”).
