Hans-Werner Springorum

Hans-Werner Springorum (born February 3, 1944 in Halberstadt ) is a German orthopedist and surgeon.

Life

As the son of a Gelsenkirchen surgeon and a sports teacher, Springorum attended the Schalke grammar school . After graduating from high school, he studied medicine at the Philipps University of Marburg from 1963 . 1964 renoncierte he at Teutonia Marburg his father, the Corps. After taking the state examination in 1969, he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. In the same year he began his surgical training at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . There he became a specialist in surgery (1975) and plastic surgery (1977). In 1977 he moved to the Foundation Orthopedic University Hospital Heidelberg under Horst Cotta . There he acquired the additional title of trauma surgery (1979). Habilitated since 1979 and also a specialist in orthopedics since 1980, he became senior physician in 1982 . As a private lecturer , he was elected chief physician of the orthopedic department at the Caritas hospital in Bad Mergentheim in 1984. In 1986 the Heidelberg University appointed him an adjunct professor . After receiving a travel grant from the German Society for Orthopedics and Traumatology in 1983 , he initiated the Austrian-Swiss-German Fellows working group . Springorum is the chairman of the old gentlemen's club in his Kösener Corps. He and his wife Lotte have two daughters and two sons.
