Horst Cotta
Horst Cotta (born July 15, 1928 in Berlin , † March 28, 2011 in Munich ) was a German orthopedist and university professor .
Life
As a student of Alfred Nikolaus Witt , Cotta followed the call of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg to the chair of orthopedics in 1967 . From June 1, 1967 to 1996, he was director of the Heidelberg University Orthopedic Clinic . He made Heidelberg Orthopedics the most influential in Germany and established the clinic's international reputation.
Like his teacher, Cotta was close to trauma surgery and carried out the difficult and overdue merging of the two subjects. He was a founding member (2008) and honorary member (2010) of the German Society for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery .
