Carl August Guido Storz (born August 9, 1847 in Meersburg ; † 1919 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German engineer and inventor who worked for Zulauf & Cie. From 1882 to 1915 . worked.

background

Storz worked as an engineer for the Grand Duke of Baden and lived in Frankfurt am Main. For his improvements to the previous connections of pipe and hose couplings, he was granted patent number 3134 in Switzerland on November 26, 1890. Also in the United States on January 3, 1893, he was granted patent no. 489,107. Page invention related to the couplings for pipes and hoses, as they were used in fire fighting.

The reason for its development was a fire in Constance , which caused difficulties in connecting hoses with screw connections. After a thorough study of the systems of “couplings with equal halves” that had been developed since 1877, he patented a new type of coupling in 1882. The Reichsnormalkupplung in sizes A, B, C and D, introduced by all German fire services in 1936 , can be traced back to these . The system standardized in Germany is widespread in Europe.
