Guillaume Costeley
Guillaume Costeley (* around 1531 in Pont-Audemer , Normandy (?); † February 1, 1606 in Évreux ) was a French organist and composer.
After his training, probably in Paris , he was court organist from 1560 (?) To 1570 and served Charles IX. and Heinrich III. of France . He then worked as a composer until his death in Évreux, where he was a member of the Sainte Cécile brotherhood.
In addition to some instrumental works, he mainly created vocal music, including more than a hundred four- and five-part chansons . He was a pioneer of the Air de cour of the 16th and 17th centuries.
