Gujrat is a Pakistani city ​​in the Gujrat District of the Punjab Province . It is located between Islamabad and Lahore , near the Chanab River . According to a 2017 census, 390,533 people live in Gujrat.

The Battle of Gujrat decided the Second Sikh War in 1849 .

The clay soils in the area around Gujrat are used for the cultivation of rice and sugar cane , agriculture and the cultivation of both products still play a major role today. Furthermore, pottery, brassware , furniture and cotton products are important goods.
