Gunar mustard

Gunar Senf (* 1951 ) is a German sports educator and university teacher .

Life

Senf studied at the German University of Physical Culture (DHfK) in Leipzig from 1968 to 1972 and then worked as a research assistant in the field of “General Theory and Methodology of Training”. In 1982 he presented his doctoral thesis on "Theoretical and methodological problems of aptitude diagnostic procedures and their application in the selection of young weightlifters: A contribution to perfecting the selection for children's and youth sports schools". He headed the department “School Sports, Children's and Youth Sports” and was appointed adjunct professor for primary school sports didactics at the Institute for Education and Didactics in Elementary and Primary Schools at the University of Leipzig after the DHfK was dissolved in 1993 . Senf held the professorship until the end of August 2016.

His main research interests included physical education, sport and exercise with children, sport for the mentally handicapped, motor development promotion and motor performance. Together with Christian Hartmann and Hans-Joachim Minow, he published the book “Understanding Sport - Experience Sport”.
