Christian Hartmann (sports scientist)

Christian Hartmann is a German sports scientist , university professor and author of textbooks on the subject of sports.

Life

Hartmann studied from 1974 to 1978 at the German University for Physical Culture in Leipzig . In his diploma thesis he dealt with the test methodology of coordinative abilities in volleyball. From 1978 to 1984 he worked at the DHfK under Günter Schnabel as a research assistant in the field of general theory and methodology of training, while part-time working as a volleyball trainer. From 1984 to 1986 he completed a postgraduate course at the DHfK, his doctoral thesis he joined in 1987 from. Hartmann then worked at the DHfK as a research assistant and from 1988 to the end of 1990 as a lecturer in the area of ​​general theory and training methodology. During the liquidation of the university and the transition of part of the DHfK to the newly founded sports science faculty at the University of Leipzig , Hartmann continued to work as a research assistant and headed the “Technology / Coordination” department in the area of ​​general theory and training methodology. In addition, during the transition from DHfK to the University of Leipzig, he was the spokesman for the democratization commission, was the deputy founding dean of the sports science faculty at the University of Leipzig, member of the founding commission and was responsible for the redesign of courses.

From 1993 to the end of September 1997 Hartmann held the position of head of the Institute for General Movement and Training Science at the University of Leipzig and in October 1993 he took over the management of the sports motor skills department at the institute mentioned. In this role he was in charge of setting up the sports motor skills laboratory. From November 1996 to October 2002 and from July 2010 he was a member of the Faculty Council. Between November 1996 and October 2002 he also sat in the council of the University of Leipzig.

In addition, Hartmann has been working as an appraiser on behalf of the Saxon State Ministry for Culture and Sport since 1992 and, within this task, is responsible, among other things, for the Abitur issues for the advanced course in sports at high schools.

From 2002 Hartmann was part of the editorial team of the journal Leipziger Sportwissenschaftliche Posts . Within the framework of the Cooperative Society for Leipzig Sports Science (KOLESPO), he contributed to the establishment of a sports science collaboration with Japan and conducted annual courses for Japanese sports scientists and officials within this collaboration. He was a co-founder of the “Sport and Media” project at the University of Leipzig.

Hartmann's research focuses on aspects of coordinative abilities, sports motor test procedures, sports technical training, movement in old age, movement observation and analysis, laterality research, body perception and experience, and motor development.

Together with Hans-Joachim Minow , Kerstin Strunk , Gunar Senf and Ingo Froböse , he published the book “Movement and Training. Basics and methodology for physiotherapists and sports therapists ”. With Senf and Minow, he wrote the textbook “Understanding Sport - Experience Sport: Basics of Movement and Training Science”.
