Gunlord is a 2D - Shoot-'em-up , which in 2012 for the Dreamcast and Neo Geo appeared. The console game is a freely interpreted homage to the very popular Turrican series .
story
The player's archenemy, known as "The Master", wants to take power over the entire galaxy together with his subjects . Now it is the player's job to ruin the plans.
Gameplay
The game principle is based heavily on Turrican . It is not only important to successfully complete a level, but also to explore it extensively. There are power-ups to collect in many places , such as new weapons or additional lives. Level 2 differs from the other sections of the game: the game becomes a horizontally scrolling shooter. This element is also borrowed from Turrican .

The game received consistently good to very good reviews.
Remarks
The graphics are all hand-drawn, the music has a playing time of over 30 minutes. The game consists of 9 levels and offers 45 different types of opponents. Various accessories for the Dreamcast ( VMU , Arcade Pad) and VGA mode are also supported. Noteworthy is the leadership of Online - High Scores via code. The Neo-Geo version is 624 Mbit . A port for the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U was announced in autumn 2013.
