Peter McPhee

Peter Balshaw McPhee (born 1948 ) is an Australian historian.

Life

Peter McPhee attended Caulfield Grammar School in Melbourne and studied history at Trinity College, University of Melbourne , where he earned a BA, an MA, and a PhD in education. McPhee specialized in French history, particularly the French Revolution .

McPhee taught history at La Trobe University from 1975 to 1979 and at Victoria University of Wellington from 1980 to 1986 and then returned to Melbourne University. He introduced forms of e-learning in his own teaching . In addition to research and teaching, he was also involved in university operations and in the introduction of the Bologna Process in Australia. At the university he temporarily held the post of provost .

McPhee is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities and a member of the Order of Australia (AM).
