Gunnar Norrman

Gunnar Norrman (born May 28, 1912 in Malmö , † April 11, 2005 in Lomma ) was a Swedish painter and graphic artist .

Life

After graduating from high school, Gunnar Norrman began studying natural sciences at Lund University. He studied botany, zoology, chemistry and genetics. In 1934 he made his debut as a painter and draftsman at the Schonen Art Association. In 1938 he passed the state examination and made his first trip to Paris. In the spring of 1941 he began studying at the eraser school of the Stockholm Art Academy and from now on devoted himself entirely to drawing and graphics ( lithography and etching ) in black and white. In 1958, Gunnar Norrman received a grant for experiments with drypoint from the 70-year fund of King Gustav VI. Adolf . From 1976 he had his prints printed in an art print shop on the Möhnesee in Germany. From this point on there are larger editions of his works. In 1979 he illustrated the anthology of poems "Nature in our heart". At an exhibition in New York in 1980, works by Gunnar Norrman were purchased from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the New York Public Library . His works are represented in over 20 museums in Sweden and abroad.
