Gunter Steinbach

Gunter Steinbach (born May 30, 1938 in Allgäu ; † August 14, 2002 ) was a German non-fiction author for nature and children's books and editor of a successful series of nature guides.

Life

He grew up near the Alpsee near Immenstadt in the Allgäu and in 1979 bought a farm near Oberreute -Irsengund. In 1992 he gave up or handed over agriculture. After training as a typesetter, he studied at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts .

Steinbach founded the "Aktion Ameise" in 1985. The motto of the campaign was "We're doing something ..."

His main focus was on publications on the subject of nature, he was also an organic horticulturist and dedicated himself to animal welfare. As a committed conservationist, he also took part in activities outside of what was then the Federal Republic of Germany.

He has a daughter.

Works

Steinbach wrote several dozen books and published numerous natural science books. His life's work was the 34-volume series Steinbach's nature and biotope guides , of which over 2.5 million copies had already been sold in 1994. The following list of works is only an extract.
