Gunzelin Schmid Noerr

Gunzelin Schmid Noerr (born July 26, 1947 in Percha (Starnberg) ) is a German philosopher and professor at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in Mönchengladbach . He is the son of the philosopher Friedrich Alfred Schmid Noerr .

Life

Schmid Noerr studied philosophy, sociology, political science and psychology in Munich and Frankfurt am Main . After receiving his doctorate in 1977, he headed the Max Horkheimer Archive of the Frankfurt City and University Library until 1996 . Between 1991 and 1998 he worked as a private lecturer at the University of Frankfurt a. M. From 1998 he was a professor at the University of Frankfurt a. M., since 1992 he has held substitute professorships at the universities of Frankfurt a. M. and Dortmund and at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences . Schmid Noerr has been Professor of Philosophy at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, Mönchengladbach, since 2002.

Schmid Noerr is an expert on critical theory . Together with Alfred Schmidt , he published Max Horkheimer's Collected Writings (19 volumes, 1985–1996) at S. Fischer Verlag .
