The Gunzenach / Kobelach is an officially twin-amed watercourse from its origin to its mouth , which flows exclusively through the municipality of Dornbirn from the Dornbirner First ( salt bottom head ) . The Ach begins as a combination of three smaller tributaries below the Salzbodenkopf in the Ebnitertal and flows from south to north at river kilometer 0.00 (in Gütle ) into the Dornbirner Ache (at river kilometer Dornbirner Ache 18.91).

The Gunzenach / Kobelach is only slightly bordered by dams on its course . However, direct access is usually difficult due to the impassable terrain.

The Gunzenach / Kobelach is not a border water.

Tributaries

The Gunzenach / Kobelach rises at about 1573  m above sea level. A. at water kilometers (GwKm) 9.1 about 200 m below the Salzbodenkopf in the Dornbirner First and after a short time at GwKm 8.68 it takes over the Höhrlegraben, which shortly before took up another nameless stream.

Other important tributaries of the Gunzenach / Kobelach are (seen from the origin):

  • at GwKm 8.25 the Fluhlöchlegraben (r), which shortly before included the Alpkopfgraben;
  • at GwKm 7.21 the Nestbach (l),
  • at GwKm 6.90 the Köhlereibach (r),
  • at GwKm 5.74 the Wolkenbruchtobel (bach) (l),
  • at GwKm 4.31 the Gunzenmoosriesebach (l),
  • at GwKm 4.24 the Lauberbach (l),
  • at GwKm 3.80 the button frieze (r),
  • at GwKm 1.84 the Rudach (l),
  • at GwKm 1.39 the Müselbach (l),
  • at GwKm 0.73 the Tintelsbach (l),
  • at GwKm 0.56 the “Brunnentöbele” (l), and
  • at GwKm 0.06 the Beckenmannbach (l) from the Beckenmann parcel in Gütle,

before it flows into the Dornbirner Ach at GwKm 18.91.

economy

The power of the water of the Gunzenach / Kobelach has been used for saws in the area of the Beckenmann / Gütle plot since ancient times . After 1862, a 35 m long transfer tunnel for the water from Gunzenach / Kobelach to Ebniterach (around GwKm 19.00) was created by FM Hämmerle to use the water to drive cotton spinning machines, which, however, was opened in 1867 , became superfluous with the construction of a new turbine. In 1868 the Gunzenach was put into a new, 1570 m long water pipe for the new turbine system at the "fallen Schrofen" (approx. GwKm 1.47, near Müselbach / Ammannsbrücke ). From 1885 a storage basin was created for this water pipe.

Sports

In the lower area of the Gunzenach / Kobelach, before the confluence with the Dornbirner Ach, canyoning is practiced.

Individual evidence

  1. The name "Gunzenach" or "Kobelach" is also used as a single name to denote the same river.
  2. (r) = tributary towards the mouth on the right side of the Gunzenach / Kobelach; (l) = inflow towards the mouth on the left side of the Gunzenach / Kobelach.
  3. ^ Franz Josef Huber: The Dornbirner Gütle: on the wild water; from the FM Hämmerle spinning mill through the Rappenloch to Staufensee , p. 18.
  4. As a result, more water should be supplied to the water catchment in the Ebniterache for the low-pressure turbine in Gütle from FM Hämmerle , since too little propulsion power was available from hydropower, especially at low tide.
