Gustav Baron (born October 16, 1847 in Kutina , Austrian Empire , † March 18, 1914 in Zagreb , Austria-Hungary ) was a Croatian Roman Catholic theologian .

He studied theology in Vienna and Zagreb and was ordained a priest in 1873 . In 1877 he became professor of the New Testament and in 1881 dean of the theological faculty, from 1885 to 1886 rector of the University of Zagreb . From 1897 he was the Regens of the Zagreb Seminary and Canon at the Zagreb Cathedral , in 1912 he became Vicar General of the Archbishop of Zagreb .

Baron was a member of the Association of Croatian Writers and was committed to connecting Croatian national consciousness with the Catholic faith. He also worked for the renewal of church singing in the Croatian language.
