Gustav Blanke

Gustav Heinrich August Blanke (born May 22, 1914 in Bad Salzuflen ; † September 26, 2001 in Speyer ) was a German Americanist.

Life

He studied German, English and history at the University of Bonn (1935–1936), at the University of Münster (1936–1938), at Miami University (1938–1939) and Ohio State University (1939–1941). After receiving his doctorate on April 15, 1942 in Münster , he was a research assistant at the University of Münster from 1946 to 1952 . From 1960 to 1961 he was a deputy professor at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . After his habilitation at the University of Münster on February 26, 1962, he was professor in Münster from 1964 to 1968. From 1968 to 1973 he taught as a full professor at the Institute for English and American Studies at the Germersheim International and Interpreting Institute . From 1973 until his retirement in 1979 he was a full professor at the Department of English and American Studies at Faculty 23 Applied Linguistics.
