Gustav Breuning
Gustav Breuning (* 1828 in Prussian Stargard ; † 1902 in Graudenz ) was a German landscape painter who worked in Graudenz.
There is no reliable information about his youth or his apprenticeship as a painter. During the apprenticeship years he visited Italy. He lived in Graudenz since the 1860s. He had his own studio there as well as a shop with wallpaper and painting supplies. In addition to the landscapes, he painted religious pictures a. a. for the local Protestant parish church. In the castle of the Bieler family in Mełno, (municipality of Gruta ), he created wall paintings with views of the castles of the Teutonic Order . His works also appeared in the form of postcards.
His works are in the Graudenzer Museum and in the West Prussian State Museum in Münster-Wolbeck .
