Johann Franz von Trautson , Imperial Count of Falkenstein , Baron of Sprechenstein (* 1609 - March 26, 1663 in Vienna ), Lord of Matrei , Schrofenstein , Bideneck etc. in Tyrol and Lord of Poysbrunn , Laa an der Thaya etc. in Lower Austria, was an Austrian nobleman, statesman and governor of Lower Austria.

Johann Franz von Trautson came from the Trautson family . His father was Paul Sixt III. von Trautson (* around 1548; July 30, 1621), his mother was Susanna Veronika von Meggau (* 1580, † January 15, 1648), sister of Leonhard Helfried von Meggau .

Life

Johann Franz lost his father at the age of 11. He was together with the future Emperor Ferdinand III. raised at the Viennese court. 1634 was the imperial special envoy to Ferdinand of Spain in the Netherlands. From 1637 to 1642 he was Land Marshal of the Lower Austrian Estates, in 1642 he was appointed governor of Lower Austria and remained so until his death. In 1653 he was accepted into the Order of the Golden Fleece .
