Friedrich August Gervasius Protasius Count of Harrach zu Rohrau and Thannhausen (born June 18, 1696 in Vienna ; † June 4, 1749 there ) was a diplomat in the service of the Habsburgs , governor and governor of the Austrian Netherlands , most recently Land Marshal of Lower Austria .

Origin and way of life

He was the son of the statesman and industrialist Aloys Thomas Raymund von Harrach (1669–1742) and his second wife Anna Cäcilia von Thannhausen and grandson of the diplomat and chief steward Ferdinand Bonaventura Graf von Harrach (1637–1706), confidante of Emperor Leopold I. Friedrich August Gervas was in the diplomatic service as Reichshofrat from 1720, envoy to Turin from 1726 , from 1728 to 1733 electoral Bohemian envoy in Regensburg , governor from 1733 and governor of the Austrian Netherlands from 1741 to 1744. Last from 1744 to 1745 he was Land Marshal of Lower Austria. In 1745 he signed the Peace of Dresden as Supreme Chancellor of Bohemia .

He became a Knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece (No. 722). The small village Friedrichsthal (Bedrichov) in the Giant Mountains , today a district of Spindleruv Mlyn , is named after him.

On February 5, 1719 he married Maria Eleonore Karolina von und zu Liechtenstein (* 1703; † approx. July 18, 1757), daughter of Prince Anton Florian von und zu Liechtenstein . The following 16 children were born:
