Leopold Christoph von Schallenberg

Count Leopold Christoph von Schallenberg (born December 11, 1712 ; † February 20, 1800 in Vienna ) was a nobleman , civil servant and freemason .

Leopold Christoph Graf von Schallenberg was the son of Christoph Leopold Graf von Schallenberg (1685–1713) and Maria Franziska Constantia von Gilleis (1691–1760), the daughter of Georg Julius Baron von Gilleis .

He came from the older or Rosenau line of Schallenberg, was Baron von Luftenberg , Piberstein , Leombach , and Hagenberg and Lord of Rosenau and Rothenbach etc. and also owner of the respective lords. Furthermore he was k. k. Chamberlain, secret councilor and colonel-court squire master of Maria Theresa .

In 1720 Leopold Christoph inherited Rosenau Castle in the Waldviertel , which he had expanded from 1736 according to the plans of the Baroque master builder Joseph Munggenast . He set up a Masonic lodge in the castle.

In 1735 he married Maria Constantia Freiin von Gilleis (1711–1780), daughter of Franz Anton Freiherr von Gilleis and Maria Sidonia Countess von Althan.
