Kira stone
Kira Stein (born March 8, 1952 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German mechanical engineer .
Life
Kira Stein was born as the daughter of the interpreter Luella Stein and the vehicle store owner Alfred Stein.
In 1977 she completed her mechanical engineering degree at the Technical University of Darmstadt . In 1983 she did her doctorate in materials science at the Staatliche Materialprüfungsanstalt Darmstadt . She was the first woman to do a doctorate in mechanical engineering in Darmstadt.
In addition to her work as an engineer, she has been dealing with the topics of women in science and technology , job motivation and job description as well as discrimination, funding opportunities and quota regulations since 1977 .
Kira Stein was a member of the board of directors of the Deutschen ingenieurinnenbund eV , on the board of the German Women's Council , on the board of the competence center Technology-Diversity-Equal Opportunities as well as a founding member of the association Women in Science and Technology . Today she is an honorary member of the competence center - technology - diversity - equal opportunities

- 2009: Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon
- 2011: The election of the 25 most influential women engineers in Germany, organized by the German Association of Engineers , recognized an independent jury that Kira Stein is one of the 25 most influential women engineers in Germany .
