Johann Nepomuk Karl of Liechtenstein

Johann Nepomuk Karl (born July 8, 1724 in Vienna ; † December 22, 1748 in Wischau ) was the youngest and 7th Prince of Liechtenstein from 1732 to 1748.

biography

Johann Nepomuk was only eight years old when his father, Prince Josef Johann Adam von Liechtenstein , died in 1732. Then he was under the tutelage of his uncle, Prince Joseph Wenzel von Liechtenstein . He took care of his nephew and carefully prepared him to take over government. When Johann took over the government alone in 1745, it seemed as if his uncle had taught him nothing, as Johann Nepomuk Karl fell into eccentricity and otherwise had little business success.

In spite of the obvious incompetence, the prince was given the office of royal Hungarian and royal Bohemian chamberlain. The prince died shortly afterwards in 1748 at the age of only 24 and was the Liechtenstein prince with the shortest lifetime. His grave is in the crypt of the House of Liechtenstein in Vranov (Moravia).

He had been married to Maria Josefa von Harrach since 1744 , the marriage remained childless.
