Gustav Brummert

Richard Karl Gustav Brummert (born March 4, 1893 in Magdeburg ; † September 18, 1967 there ) was a German cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

"Pepi" (with full name Richard Karl Gustav) Brummert began his cycling career in the Magdeburg racing club Pfeil on the former cycling track at the Sachsenring. He soon discovered his preference for standing races , which made him a crowd favorite on the Magdeburg cycle race track. Between 1919 and 1921 he achieved 39 victories in small and medium standing races. In 1922 he won the “Goldenen Rad” in Dortmund and Erfurt , won the Great Germania Prize in Dortmund and two races in Budapest . In 1920 he was second behind Hermann Katzensteiner in the German championship in the amateurs' road race . As a junior and amateur, he was a member of the German Cyclists Union (DRU), which emerged in 1920 from the General Cyclists Union ( ARU). He won the German Sprint Championship of the DRU in 1931 at the age of 38. A little later he ended his career.

Familiar 

His brother Paul Brummert also competed successfully on track and road, he was among other things German champion in the team time trial with the team of the RC Brennabor Magdeburg in 1930 and 1932.
