Gustav Friedrich Eugen Rümelin
Gustav Friedrich Eugen Rümelin (born May 1, 1848 in Nürtingen , † January 11, 1907 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German legal scholar .

Gustav Rümelin is the son of Gustav von Rümelin and Marie Rümelin (1824–1891), daughter of the Württemberg finance council and camera administrator Friedrich von Schmoller (1795–1865) and his wife Therese, born. Gardener (1804–1846), Max von Rümelin is his brother.
Career
After graduating from high school in Stuttgart in 1867, Gustav Rümelin studied law in Heidelberg and from 1868 in Tübingen. As a one-year volunteer, he took part in the Franco-German War . He completed his habilitation in 1875 and was then a private lecturer in Roman law in Göttingen. In 1878 he was appointed professor of Roman law at the University of Freiburg . From 1893 to 1906 Rümelin was a member of the First Chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly .
Rümelin was a critic of the pure term jurisprudence and is considered a forerunner of the free right movement.
family
Gustav Rümelin was married to Susette Rümelin, b. Meibom (1856–1931), daughter of the legal scholar Viktor von Meibom (1821–1892) and Amelie Ries (1834–1909). The son Gustav Adolf Viktor Rümelin (1882–1914) comes from the marriage of Gustav Rümelins to Susette Rümelin. He was a lecturer in physical chemistry at the Technical University of Aachen .
